The ASARCO Mineral Discovery Center (AMDC) is dedicated to advancing public understanding of the copper mining industry, educating students and teachers in mining engineering and earth sciences, and preserving the rich mining heritage of Arizona and the American West. Through immersive tours of active mining operations, educational programs, interactive exhibits, and community outreach, the AMDC demonstrates the essential role copper and mining play in modern society. Since opening in 1997, the AMDC has welcomed more than half a million visitors and has become one of Arizona's premier mining education and outreach centers. By inspiring curiosity, fostering workforce development, and promoting responsible domestic mineral development, the AMDC continues to connect communities with the innovation, sustainability, and people that are shaping the future of mining.
